Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky situation, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually changes into a dark smudge on your concrete. But usually before that point, visitors and clientele coming into a store or office will step on the chewing gum and track it in all over the carpets, rugs and mats. Then it is forced deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Irvine CA. Find information on our methods below:
The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we might be able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a gooey and stringy glob. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Then we move the scraper very slowly under the gum and the whole piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use very high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses any more pressure than needed to clean commercial concrete. These types of surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal professional.
To remove chewing gum from concrete and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment and powerful soaps and detergents that enable us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure equipment, we are able to safely remove chewing gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that can be found in gum.
By hiring Irvine Pressure Washing for routine maintenance commercial cleaning at your building, your commercial property will have better curb appeal and your gum removal issues will be over! You will also ensure less damage to carpets and other flooring while making your storefront more appealing to clientele.
